H - Hunger Games

The Hunger Games is one of the best selling books and films in history and in 2015 they released the last film. Which I was sad and excited about at the same time because it was coming to an end but I couldn't wait to see it as I had been waiting for it for so long. So here it is my little review of all the films...

The first film called 'The Hunger Games' started off the franchise with a storm. It is about a girl called Katniss Everdeen who volunteers as tribute to take her sisters place in the Hunger Games. Which is a televised competition where teenagers from each district (Out of 12) of Panem are chosen at random to fight to their death in order to win supplies for their districts. Through out the film you see how she deals with The Hunger Games and how it effects her family and all the other people from the districts. I love how they used a strong female lead character as that is unusual and it really showed what a girl can do if they were in that situation. So seeing this film for the first time I was pretty excited and it really did pay off as the star role Jennifer Lawrence did a fantastic job. The character interactions are really interesting with the dark setting and story line of being forced into The Hunger Games.

The next film 'Catching Fire' has to be my favorite film out of The hunger Games franchise. It's about how Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark become targets of the Capitol after they won in the 74th Hunger Games sparks a rebellion in the districts of Panem. Which the Capitol see as a huge threat so they try and find ways of getting rid of them. The reason why I find this one my favorite out of the franchise is because the story line is so good, keeping you on your toes and the character development really makes the film more interesting.

The last film is put into two parts. In the first part Mocking Jay Part 1 Katniss is in the district 13 after she shatters the games forever. Under the leadership of president Coin and the advice of her trusted friends. She spreads her wings as she fights to save Peeta and a nation moved by her courage. I found that this film wasn't the best but it was needed. It was a filler film in my option but I can defiantly see why it is needed otherwise it wouldn't make sense. But over all I found it was very stretched and elongated.
Mocking Jay Part 2 is a great film and a great end to the franchise. As the war of Panem escalates to the destruction of other districts. Katniss the leader of the rebellion must bring together an army against Snow while all she holds dear hangs in the balance. This film has a great story that keep you on your toes and has a lot of funny and sad moments that'll really make your heart throb.

I hope you have enjoyed my review of The Hunger Games franchise. It has to be one of my favorites. What do you think of The Hunger Games? What franchise would you recommend me to watch?

  1. I love The Hunger Games. I totally agree about the third film being mostly filler. I think they should have stuck with the trilogy format of the books. If you haven't read the books, give them a whirl, they are much more detailed than the books and really give a bit more to the story

  2. I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks so. Sadly I haven't read the books, before I even found out about them the first film came out so I didn't get round to it. But I really want to.
