The Last Jedi | Film Review

The Last Jedi is the lastest in the Starwars franchise. The film shows Rey developing new abilities with help and guidance from Luke Skywalker who is unsettled by the strength of her powers. Meanwhile, the Resistance prepares for battle with the First Order. Starwars started out in the 80's and the first trilogy was a huge hit. Due to this, there were three prequel films that came out about 20 years later. They didn't do as well at the box office as everyone thought. Even though this was the case Starwars is still one of the highest performing franchise to date.
The Last Jedi out of the three new films that have been our so far has been my favourite. The film really showed Rey's progression with the force and her determination to win against the dark side. The film not only came across great but it looked amazing. It was visually interesting and it almost felt like you were there with them fighting against the First Order.

There has been a lot of confliction with the latest Starwars films. A lot of fans are saying that they aren't like the originals. They feel like the films aren't well done, that they are sloppy and not realistic and as exciting. I totally disagree with these comments - first of all, there is nothing realistic about Starwars in the first place. Second I feel that the Last Jedi has proven to be a great fine, not only is it full of funny moments but heartwarming ones. These films are made for a bit of fun at the end of the day - people shouldn't take them too seriously.

Rey as a character has developed so well over the last couple of films. She has shown that she will never give up and that she will always do what's right. Even though she feels lost in herself by not knowing who her real parents are she has found herself in the way of the force. She is a brave noble character that will help to fight for justice.

Finn has gone from not knowing what he is doing to finding his feet on the light side. He sometimes struggles to find what's right and what's wrong. But in the end, he always goes down the right path. He see's the good in everyone and never wants to let anyone down.

Poe Dameron is a driven character and knows what to do when needed. He is very impatient so when things are going slow he tries to speed things up even though it might not be the right time to do so. He loves to get into the action so when it's time to fight he is the first one to get things going.

These three characters have their own unique traits and without either one of them, they wouldn't be as good of a team that they are. They work hand in hand to achieve their goal.

Fun Fact

Did you know? Early filming took place with Mark Hamill and Daisy Ridley on Skellig Michael off the coast of County Kerry, Irland, in late September 2015. On 15th February 2016, LucasFilm posted a short production-announcement video which included some footage and behind-the-scenes shots and which picked up immediately after the final scene of Force Awakens.
